This is a prayer I often use in weddings and at the end of marriage seminars.

Heavenly Father, You have so consecrated the covenant of marriage that in it is represented the spiritual unity between Christ and His Church. Send, therefore, Your blessing upon (Groom/Bride), that they may so love, honor, and cherish each other in faithfulness and patience, in wisdom and true godliness, that their home may be a haven of blessing and peace.

Father , I pray that they will continue to grow in the truth that marriage is not merely living for each other, but joining hands to serve you and your Son, Jesus.  May they have a great spiritual purpose in life.  May they not expect perfection in each other, for perfection belongs only to you, Father.  Remind them to minimize each other’s weaknesses and be swift to praise and magnify each other’s strengths.  May they always see each other through love’s kind and patient eyes.

Father, bless their lives together.  May they have enough tears to keep them tender, enough hurts to keep them human, enough failures to keep them tightly clutching your almighty hand, and enough blessings to affirm that they are indeed your children.

May their life together be such that at the end of life they will be found then as now — still hand in hand, still thanking you for each other, still faithful servants of you their Heavenly Father — until at last, if Jesus tarries, one shall lay the other into your eternal arms.

In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, we pray.  Amen
