Marriage Tune-Up

Tune-Up: a general adjustment to insure operation at peak effectiveness

A car or truck needs attention when the engine backfires, the brakes squeal, and the warning lights refuse to dim. In a similar way, marriages need consistent upkeep to stay running at peak performance.

Maybe your marriage relationship is doing okay, but you want more than just “okay.”

To keep a marriage running smoothly requires keeping a check on the key elements of a loving and lasting relationship. The point of a tune-up is to avoid more expensive repairs down the road. The Marriage Tune-Up coaching program provides preventive maintenance every marriage needs.

What can you expect from a Marriage Tune-Up?

  • Personalized feedback on the state of your marriage relationship.
  • Tools to enhance better overall marriage harmony and intimacy.

  • Creative ways to keep your relationship growing and running smoothly.
  • Celebrate your relationship strengths and increase the overall quality of your marriage.
  • Focused time learning how to better work as a team in your marriage.

I use the Better Love+The 5 Love Languages® relationship assessment as a foundation for coaching couples. This assessment is based on a wide range of research covering 11 power-packed pages of customized insights related to healthy marriage relationships.

Keep Your Marriage Running Smoothly

Be better equipped for developing a healthy, happy relationship.

You didn’t marry each other for second best. No one wants an “okay” kind of marriage. However, there are seasons of life when you are busy with the kids, careers, and a host of other commitments and you can forget to be married. My Marriage Tune-Up coaching program can help you maintain the quality of love and commitment that you want in your marriage. Don’t settle for “okay.”

“Too often we put ourselves in cruise control, and this tendency, more than major problems, keeps us apart. When we’re in cruise control, we don’t actively seek to meet one another’s needs or communicate our own needs. Slowly, unknowingly, we drift in different directions.” (Tricia Goyer, from the Focusonthefamily.ca article, “How to Give your Marriage a Regular Check-up”)

As a pastor and marriage coach for more than 45 years, I have helped thousands of couples work through relational issues with a Christ-centered approach on their journey of lifelong love. It would be my joy to help you continue building a dynamic and lasting relationship with each other.

The Marriage Tune-Up coaching program involves completing the Better Love The 5 Love Languages® relationship assessment, meeting online (via Zoom) or in-person over three sessions of 90 minutes in length, and completing discussion assignments between sessions. Our sessions together can be scheduled weekly or every other week.

During each session, sections of the assessment report will be reviewed and discussed, along with providing further education, skills-building, and practice. Reading and discussion questions will be assigned between sessions to enhance your experience.

The coaching fee is $350 per couple and includes three online or in-person coaching sessions, the Better Love The 5 Love Languages® relationship assessment, and a copy of my book, Tools for a Great Marriage. The fee is due in full prior to the first session. Coaching sessions beyond the initial three may be scheduled by the couple for an additional fee.

The Marriage Tune-Up coaching program is not marriage counseling. Couples in serious conflict should seek a licensed marriage counselor or a well-trained pastor.

“I walked away with real insight and tangible solutions for areas in my marriage that I personally need to improve on.”

John

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”

Genesis 2:24

“Just as we monitor and maintain our cars, we need to “watch the gauges” of our marriage if we want to keep it running smoothly.”
